Tissues in the body are unlike the kinds in which you blow your nose in. In the world of biology, a tissue is the level that is stuffed in between an organ and cell. There are four different types of tissue or cell groups in the human body. Depending on the function of the tissues they can be categorized in different groups. The study of human tissues is called histology. If a person suffers from a disease within their body tissues, they should visit a histopathologist.
Types of Tissue In The Body
One of the types of tissue in the body is connective tissue. There should be no surprise to learn that connective tissues help connect and support the body. These types of tissues are not cooped up together but spread out through the cells, proteins and fibers. Within this group of tissues there are three subcategories: loose, dense and specialized connective tissue. The type of tissue that holds organs in their place is the loose connective tissue. Loose connective tissues have three types of fibers to fill in small spaces: collagenous, elastic and reticular. Elastic fibers allow the tissues to stretch as much as needed without breaking or ripping. Collagenous fibers are composed of collagen to help strengthen the bundles of tissue. Reticular fibers are used to help connect different tissues together.
Dense connective tissues are in the tendons and ligaments. Collagenous fibers are most found in this type of tissue because is thicker and more protective. There are three types of dense connective tissues: dense regular, dense irregular and elastic. The third subcategory of connective tissues is specialized. This type of tissue comes in five forms: blood, bone, adipose, lymph and cartilage.
For the linings of important organs to be protected, epithelial tissue helps cover them. Organs such as blood, brain, lungs and the heart are surrounded by jam-packed epithelial tissues to great a protective barrier. The barrier created by this form of tissue helps defend the body from unwanted infections and viruses. The epithelial tissue is a tissue with many useful purposes such as absorption, sensory function and excretion. Depending on the shape of this tissue, there are different types of epithelial tissues such as simple, stratified, pseudostratified, endothelium, cuboidal, columnar and squamous. For organs such as the lungs and kidneys, layers of simple epithelium are created. Stratified epithelium helps protect the cells from damage and is found in the reproductive tract. Pseudostratified epithelium tissues are found in the respiratory tract and offer protection from damage.
Another type tissue that is commonly known is muscle tissue. The bodies of animals and humans are full of muscle tissues such as cardiac, skeletal and visceral. One of the most important muscular tissue from in the body is cardiac. This type of muscle tissue is found in the found, hence the name. This muscle is important because it helps synchronization the heartbeat. Connective tissue is coupled up with skeletal muscles to help support the bones in the body. Everything from chest movements, hand movements, facial expressions and movement of the toes is because of skeletal muscles. Visceral muscle is also known as smooth muscle and it can be founded in systems such as reproductive and respiratory. Most of the muscle tissues in human bodies are control by the brain.
The central nervous system is where the most nervous tissue is found. Nervous tissues include neurons which contain cell body and nervous processes. This type of tissue has glial cells that are in the spinal cord and brain. One of the most important jobs of the nervous tissue is to regulate bodily functions. Nervous tissue has cells made up of white matter, grey matter and ganglion tissues. Connective tissues help surround different nerves in the body to help achieve better performance.
